First responders
This service was set up to reduce the waiting time for emergency relief. First responders are sent by CAUCA (9-1-1) to the scene according to the code and priority of the call, in order to assess the patients’ condition, stabilize them and administer first aid while respecting pre-established operational protocols pending the arrival of paramedics. In case of emergency, the time of arrival of the rescue is sometimes crucial.
This service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The volunteers received training including theoretical courses and several hours of practice and simulation. A new emergency vehicle, equipped with the necessary equipment (oxygen, defibrillator, etc.), is provided by the municipality.
