Local Economy

Within the Haut-Saint-Laurent MRC, Franklin constitutes the second largest location for commercial and industrial purposes. While Franklin’s economic activity is primarily linked to apple growing and maple syrup production, it also encompasses the largest employer in the entire MRC, Leahy Orchards, employing over 300 people.

The Municipality of Franklin is estimated to have around 83 businesses. Of these, approximately half are in the agri-food sector (agricultural product sales, processing companies, restaurants, and distribution businesses).

In terms of accommodation, the Municipality has one motel, three bed and breakfasts, and four campgrounds. The Lac des Pins campground is the largest with over 1,110 camping sites and offers several services within the campground, including a grocery store.
