Public Works & Major Projects
As a frontline service directed towards the population, the Public Works Department plans, coordinates, and manages the maintenance and repairs of municipal equipment and infrastructure.
Snow removal is handled by a private contractor under the supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer and the Public Works Foreman. Winter sidewalk maintenance, however, is managed directly by the Municipality, as well as all municipal buildings.
The department is responsible for repairing municipal roadways (potholes, etc.), while numbered highways (201, 202, and 209) fall under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transportation. Maintenance of municipal buildings and vehicles also falls under their purview.
Additionally, the department oversees regular maintenance of ditches, monitors watercourses and general water flow, ensures cleanliness throughout the municipality, performs roadside mowing in the summer, and handles all other municipal road-related activities.
