
Conference – Tree and Forest Month and Tree Distribution
As part of Tree and Forest Month, the Municipality of Franklin invites you to a conference presented by CRIVERT Inc., led by David Lemieux-Bibeau, Forest Engineer.
• 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.: Conference
• 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Tree Distribution and Perennial Plant Exchange
Program:
The presentation will explore tree and forest biodiversity from different perspectives, with concrete examples specific to the Franklin area.
Participants will learn about:
• Common and rare tree species found in our area
• The ecological and economic role of maple groves
• Current issues such as the emerald ash borer and the status of butternut trees
• Practical advice for planting and tree care
• Suitable replacement suggestions for certain threatened species
A second part will focus on the importance of deadwood and snags for biodiversity, as well as better forest management practices to adopt.
Tree Distribution:
Free trees will be distributed to residents from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Seedlings are provided by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests and distributed by the 4-H Clubs.
Perennial Plant Exchange Tables:
Free perennial plant exchange tables will also be available.
